Hi, I’m Josh, the founder of Nevis English. With over six years of teaching experience, I’ve had the privilege of working with students from all over the world, helping them improve their English skills for personal, academic, and professional growth. Originally from Scotland, I named my business after Ben Nevis, our country’s tallest mountain, reflecting my love for the outdoors. When I’m not teaching, you’ll often find me hiking, kayaking, cooking up new dishes, or enjoying some music.
My Story
The journey to founding Nevis English began unexpectedly while I was working in a coffee shop in Scotland. Surrounded by colleagues who spoke English as a second language, I naturally found myself teaching them useful words and phrases. Inspired by this experience, I enrolled in a tutoring course at my local college and began tutoring on my days off. After completing my CELTA, I taught for the college and local council before moving to Glasgow, where I worked with refugees. This led me abroad, teaching in language schools in Poland and Portugal while also delivering online business English lessons. Every summer, I have the pleasure of teaching and managing at a summer school in London, engaging with students from all over the world. Currently, I am completing my DELTA to further enhance my teaching skills.
